Downtown Los Alamos Art Gallery and Art Studio

We are a locally owned and operated gallery that features local and regional fine artists working in traditional mediums. Our gallery is located on Central Avenue in historic downtown Los Alamos. If assisting visitors with a piece of artwork sounds interesting, this may be a good fit for you.

Seeking a friendly, reliable, upbeat, mature individual who will join our gallery team. You are able to multi-task when busy as well as direct yourself during slower times. You are a self-starter, pay attention to detail and have the ability to be flexible and creative. Color and design sense is a plus.

You would be working with the owner in the gallery some days and independently. You will be responsible for hanging and displaying artwork, using a ladder to change lightbulbs, using the gallery’s inventory system, independently handling art sales, knowledgeably interacting with customers, maintaining inventory, and organizing paperwork and gallery space.

Our pay scale is based on experience, with our hourly starting at $14/hr. In summary, we have a position for someone that would enjoy a gallery environment in a beautiful setting.

Requirements:

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Retail experience highly desirable.

• Punctual, responsible, and reliable with a sense of discretion and professional demeanor at all times.

• Self-starter, good at multi-tasking, ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Clear communication.

• Computer literate on Mac desirable.

• Internet navigation.

• Prior knowledge of art a plus.

• 2 years prior work general experience.

Job Duties:

• Assist owner with organization and client support.

• Handle sales of fine artwork.

• General office support: greet clients, file, purchase office supplies when needed.

• Provide excellent service to clients & artists.

• General gallery maintenance: cleaning and organizing.

• Carefully handle fine artwork, maintain inventory in gallery and storeroom spaces.

• Tastefully decorate gallery for holidays.

• Assist with set-up and take-down for in-house art classes.

• Assist with exhibition preparation and overall presentation of the gallery – you will be on your feet, and moving art. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

• Arrange artwork for and assist with gallery art openings.

Pay is based on experience.

Local candidates only.

Schedule:

• 5-hour shift, ~10-15 hours/week

• Day shift

• Monday to Friday, 11am-4pm

• Extended hours for gallery openings and events

• Saturday availability
