Chamber Breakfast May 2016
Topic: New Mexico State Plan for Family Caregivers
New Mexico Cabinet Secretary for Aging and Long Term Services Myles Copeland will be the presenter at the May 18 Chamber Breakfast. Secretary Copeland will be addressing a critical issue for business owners, managers and human resource personnel – employees who are distracted by the demands of also being a caregiver for an aging family member.
Employers across our state are faced with employees whose responsibilities are split between work and caring for aging family members. The newly-published New Mexico State Plan for Family Caregivers details issues and solutions related to the 419,000 people in our state who provide unpaid care to loved ones each year. The plan highlights implications of this issue for employers, as well as strategies for, and benefits of, supporting our employees who are family caregivers.
